Child Sleep Expert, Zoe Chu, Teaches A 5 Step Simple Sleep Baby Sleep Program So That You And Your Child Can Get The Sleep Everyone In Your Family Deserves!

What’s your story?
My name is Zoe Chu and I am the founder of SG Supernanny. What’s my superpower? I transform mombies and turn them into sleeping beauties. How do I know how to do that? Because I was an ex- mombie.

More than 14 years ago, I was living in New Zealand. When I first brought my twins home from the hospital, I was a clueless first time mom. I did read lots of books when I was pregnant but I never quite dabbled into anything related to sleep. You know why? Because in my head, I thought when babies are tired they would just sleep just like we adults do. But boy was I wrong!

When they were tired, they just wouldn’t sleep and even if they did, it would be for like 30 mins and then they would wake up crying again. I thought surely they can’t be hungry again so soon…But I didn’t know what else to do so I would just feed them each time they cried and I really felt like a cow nursing and pumping 24/7.

My lovely neighbour Vania visited me one day and she probably saw my panda eyes and how tired and sleep deprived I was. She suggested reading books on sleep training. At that time, I had no idea what sleep training meant at all. I was determined though to find out because what was there to lose? (Just more sleep I guess! haha)

Armed with my new found knowledge and some guidance from Vania, I managed to get both my twins to sleep well and through the night for 11-12 hours. A lot of my friends were amazed and started asking me for advice. Fast forward a few years, I went on to have more babies and made a move to Singapore to be closer to my family. I started blogging about my sleep training journey and other tired and sleep deprived parents found my blog and asked me for my help. Before long, my work was featured in magazines, radios and newspapers. I am now an author, baby sleep expert, a certified adult sleep expert and speaker. My expertise has helped thousands of babies, toddlers and adults all over the world get back their precious sleep. And now I am also a blessed mommy of 4.

I feel so grateful to wake up and do what I love ❤- transforming the lives of families from being frustrated and exhausted to happy and well rested.

What excites you most about your industry?
This parenting industry I am in, especially the sleep category, is very niche and yet I see this as a blue ocean. Lots of tired parents do not know about such services and they are not aware about the importance of fostering healthy sleep habits for their little ones.

What is your connection to Asia?
I was born and raised in Malaysia. I left home to go to New Zealand to pursue my Masters Degree. I got married and settled down in New Zealand for over 10 years before I decided to migrate back to Asia, specifically Singapore.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Definitely Singapore. I have always loved Singapore since I was a kid. This is my home for almost a decade now. I admire the country for being so clean, so well-organised, safe and the people are warm, kind and friendly. Singapore is consistently ranked no. 1 for ease of doing business. I have been able to set up my business with ease and the government is very supportive of small medium sized businesses too.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Hire a mentor if you want to get to your success story in a much shorter time frame. Your mentor has been through all the failures and mistakes and learned from it. Why struggle on your own when someone can help you get past your hurdles much quicker?

Who inspires you?
People around me inspire me. My husband – who came from a humble upbringing – proves that he can be successful if he puts his mind to it. My parents who worked hard to give me the best education they can afford. My 4 children who inspire me to be a better mother and better role model for them.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
I learned that I shouldn’t be friends with lobsters. If you put two lobsters in a pot, you don’t have to close the lid. One lobster will try to climb out and the other will pull the lobster down. Not everyone in your life will be supportive of your dreams. Some will just laugh at your dreams. Find friends who will lift you up and support you wholeheartedly.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I would have hired my business mentors much earlier. They have helped me scale my business up to 3x more prior to hiring them. I would have written my book Sleep Baby Sleep much earlier too to garner credibility and authority in my industry.

How do you unwind?
I like to listen to music, watch a movie and go for a nice lunch or dinner date. I love to chit chat and have a good laugh with my family and friends.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Japan because it’s simply beautiful inside out. I love the food, the culture and the people.

Key Takeaway: The fashion industry relies on storytelling to create fashionable garments and spread positive messages about issues.
