Abbas Ng with his venture Onelyst is empowering people to make informed financial decisions. He is inspired by his hard working father who is the best in his field.

What’s your story?
I was pursuing my degree at Nanyang Business School. I left without graduating and started Onelyst together with my team. I enjoy empowering people. At Onelyst, we have been financially empowering a section of society that risks being exploited by the existing system due to lack of access to information and choices.

What excites you most about your industry?
Finance is an inevitable part of life. Financial decisions can either help you or break you. Empowering people to make informed financial decisions at the most crucial time excites me.

My dad. He runs his stall selling roti-prata. Roti prata is a fried flour-based pancake cooked over a flat grill. He takes pride in what he does. He ensures he is the best in his field. He works really long hours. He inspires me in every sense.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
According to Global Findex 2014, an estimated 2 billion people or 38% of adults in the world don’t have access to basic financial services. We have a lot more work to do.
