Sol Gonzalez received her degree in Advertising in 2001 and specialized in Digital Direct Advertising. She was hired on as an Art Director in Canadas Agency of the Year at the time. Sol later moved on and began creating television commercial spots for medium sized businesses after winning some awards in the agencies in 2004; she then moved to Brand Management for a multinational company in Europe in 2010. During the stint, Sol worked on the company´s google ad campaign and then became certified in 2014 by Google. Once Sol fell in love with how it worked, she decided to start GoogleAds.ca, creating successful small business Google Search Ad Campaigns ever since.

What led you to your current business?

I love digital advertising, especially getting results for my clients and having the numbers to back it up. I focused on google specifically because its my favorite form of advertising to the consumer; I love how google search ads are not irrelevant ads, but rather directly related to what a user is looking for, one of the few forms of Advertising that’s actually appreciated.

In your own words what do you do?

I basically take away all the unecessary work and learning to navigate the adwords system and Create compelling campaigns and avoid costly mistakes, this is an excellent aspect of your business that best when delegated, overviewing the account activity and client behavior is much more time efficient when you consider all the time learning a new interface entails when you have special requirements.

Did you encounter any particular difficulties in the beginning?

Dificulties? I guess finding business owners at the right stage to advertise. It’s a matter of research and effort.

What is your long term plan?

I found what I love, after that, it seems easy; keep creating compelling campaigns and grow alongside my clients.

Could you share with us some industry insights?

More and more people are searching and making purchases on their mobile devices, there has been a massive shift in the way we interact with the internet since mobile browsing became the norm, there are ways to capitalize on this with google ads, by placing mobile ad extensions people can navigate directly by clicking your ad. Being on top of the shifts definitely allows you to be the business that gets the business that gets overlooked.

Also, I think in 15 years people will be hardpressed to get advertising, know the exact numbers for the prices we are today. We may look back in a very short period of time and wonder how it was ever pennies a click in a medium, where you not only have potential clients, but potential clients actively searching for your products or services, and only pay for the clicks that lead to your site.

What are some important lessons you’ve learnt about entrepreneurship?

Write everything down! Seems silly but you get to a point where you really need to make sure you   keep a good habit of writing everything down. Constantly missing details can take months away from your productivity.

Any tips for achieving success?

Find when and how to achieve your optimal performance and create a balance for yourself from the initial stages. Tips? Make sure to keep on top of your health, love and family life and live what you do; the money will follow.
