Adeline Lim has a background in recruitment, he is now a career coach and enjoys supporting people into the workforce.

What’s your story?
From auditing revenues and moving on to chase revenues, from cold leads and connecting talents with roles in companies across industries to career coaching today.

What excites you most about your industry?
To be able to support, encourage and guide especially vulnerable (low literacy/education, matured, returners to workforce, ex-convicts) jobseekers back into the workforce against the challenges they face.

What’s your connection to Asia?
Born and bred in Singapore.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Singapore, a convenient city with a good mix of cultures and easy access to many countries around the world. Cleaner and more spacious than Hong Kong in my opinion.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
You need to get down on your hands to do the work from end to end to know what and exactly how it works. Learn by doing. If you do it wrong, do it again until you get it right. That comes with tenacity.

Who inspires you?
My dad who is the second eldest child to my grandparents. He and his eldest sister had to work from a young age to support the family and younger siblings through school when he, himself never had the chance to even graduate from secondary school. He is a hard worker and a strong believer that constant learning is important to acquire new skills. He got a job that he is passionate about and is still with the company today, because the company also gave him the opportunity to constantly upskill and reskill in his work.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
Amazing science advancements especially in healthcare is totally mind-blowing. These great advancements can really benefit a lot of people. I just hope they are affordable for the majority of the population and not over priced by big pharma or healthcare companies. I enjoy the sharings by Hashem Al-Ghaili.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
Pursue learning skills in the arts whilst doing what I was doing.

How do you unwind?
I make it a must to travel a few times a year for leisure and I particularly fancy solo travel for fuss free travelling. Personally, I also feel that travelling alone makes it more fun to interact with locals like an ignorant kid.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Thailand. There’s a good choice of nice cities and nice beaches all within a short flight. Good food, great service, friendly people and affordable prices.

Everyone in business should read this book:
