Up Tempo Techno Parties & Global Music Production

What’s your story?
I’ve been working within the music industry for 6 years. Our business is predominantly mixing and mastering, however TEMPUS also runs techno parties around Melbourne.

What excites you most about your industry?
The music industry is very high stakes and super fast paced. You tend to risk your time more than money in this industry. Of course the two could be looked at as linear however you really need to spend your chips wisely by making the right moves.

What’s your connection to Asia?
I live in Australia, and have travelled to, holidayed and performed in Asia. It is truly one of the most beautiful parts of the world and it needs to be preserved.

Favourite city for business and why?
Melbourne. I’ve been lucky enough to have travelled all over the world and Melbourne definitely stands out for live music and subculture (maybe I’m biased).

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Always be conscious of your brand.

Who inspires you?
Diplo. The music doyen, is not only a tastemaker and production genius, he is a music business magnate who doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
The power of social media marketing.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
Nothing. A super short answer. I live with no regrets.

How do you unwind?
I love spending my time with my fiancé and our beagle Bambi!

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Vietnam. The culture and vibe is very relaxed and welcoming.

Everyone in business should read this book:
“Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” by Hunter S. Thompson.

Key Takeaway: Leading scientists and technologists often make terrible predictions about the direction of innovation, leading to misalignments between a company’s economic incentives to profit from its proprietary AI model and society’s interests in how the AI model should be monetised and deployed.
