ChitranshSimplifies End-to-end Logistics to Reduce Freight Costs for Companies

What’s your story?
I am a Graduate of IIT Delhi and my previous startup, Plat (Broker Marketplace), was acquired by Housing.com in 2015. I worked with Housing for a year handling pre-sales for secondary markets (ReSale and Rental), and managing a team across 7 cities. Just for fun, we started an export import company, with some cash from the sale of Plat, exporting items from China and retailing them on Amazon.com.

“We have moved more than $11.28 Billion in freight, saving customers more than $21 million.”

What excites you most about your industry?
The International Freight market, globally, is a $1.5 Trillion Market, plagued with inefficiencies. In the global marketplace geography, International freight is controlled by Mid to Large Sized Export Import Enterprises. The way they negotiate, procure and manage freight services is offline, making it more expensive, inefficient and error prone. We believe a platform that makes information more symmetric and transparent, as well as optimising freight negotiations, can help these Enterprises bring down costs and improve working capital cycles.

What’s your connection to Asia?
Asia has 8 out of the 10 busiest global container ports. It is also becoming the manufacturing hub of Asia. We are Headquartered in Singapore and are also backed by SGInnovate to boost our presence here.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Singapore – it is a global Headquarters of Global Manufacturing firms, and it is fun to do business here since it is culturally diverse and has an open market.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Be a student of the market and never think of yourself as the master.

Who inspires you?
Lots of people have inspired me throughout my life. One of them is my partner. Her sincerity, integrity and life story have been inspirational.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
I recently learnt about the science behind scaling sales and building a pipeline.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I would have gone international sooner with GoComet and built a global sales process earlier.

How do you unwind?
I meditate every week for 5 hours, with each session lasting one hour. I practice Vipassana Meditation.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Bali, Indonesia. It has the perfect blend of Architecture, Culture, Food and People.

Everyone in business should read this book:
“Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future,” by Peter Thiel.
