Dr. Wendy Helps Companies Build and Manage Their Image and Brands

What’s your story?
Brand your Brand Right! Image & Brand Management is not about changing the outer appearance of your company or your people, but it is about how to integrate EQ with IMAGE & BRANDING to maintain the authenticity of the brand.

In the new normal, branding your brand right involves and starts with Awareness at both the individual & company level, enhancing the Motivation of the employees to communicate & connect the company’s brand to stakeholders, and internal & external customers through Empathy & Social Skills by effectively using Appearance, Behaviour & Communication.

In fact, the real gist of raising the game in professional image branding relies on sustaining a level of ongoing education where individuals are encouraged to Self-regulate using the knowledge they pick up and apply in their daily life!

“Brand Management… is about how to integrate EQ with IMAGE & BRANDING to maintain the authenticity of the brand.”

What excites you most about your industry?
As an image consultant and a corporate trainer and speaker, I enjoy going to different workplaces every week where I meet new people and increase my knowledge about different cultures. I learn a great deal from audiences and participants.

What’s your connection to Asia?
I feel connected to the strong culture and values of Asian people. I was born and bred in a small town named Kampar in Malaysia, and was raised in a multicultural village where we all lived happily together, speaking different languages, playing childhood games, and visiting each other’s homes.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Singapore! Singaporeans are straight forward! I enjoy doing business without needing to beat around the bush as that is a waste of time!

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
The best strategy in business is knowing “What not to do!”

Ensure your marketing is always in alignment with your branding. “Marketing is just quenching your thirst, but branding is building the well that gives you a constant water supply.”

Who inspires you?
My husband. I admire his “guts” in business. Even though he started his business just a few years earlier than mine, today his business has grown quite a bit. His business has expanded into a few Asia countries as well as into new industries.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
There is no individual or company that is too big to collapse or too small to be great, in a noticeably short period of time! The lesson: Be relevant, stay relevant!

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I might have incorporated proper planning in growing my business. I started just with the intention of earning more money as an entrepreneur. I am really good at making fast money. I seem to have the midas touch in almost everything I am involved in.

However, I never think about the vision and mission as to how to bring my business to the next level.

I am sure that if I had started my business 10 years ago with the end in mind, things could be very different today!

How do you unwind?
I make it a point to take a holiday at least 8 times every year. Whether they are of short or long duration, I’ve been doing this for the past 5 years and counting.

As for the time between holidays, I enjoy a good massage and having chill out sessions with close friends as my “go-to” way of unwinding.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Japan and Thailand!

During the Winter, Japan will always be our first choice as my children love the snow and want to ski! We enjoy the chilling weather and the fresh Japanese sashimi!

But year round,  or for just a short 3 – 4 day relaxing getaway, it’s definitely Thailand! We love the awesome Thai food, friendly people, variety of shopping choices and spas.  My favorite places in Thailand are Koh Samui and Bangkok.
