Ravina has been designing and making jewellery since 30 years as a Passion, not only for herself but for her entire family. Each of the sets she has looked at every detail from design,to quality gemstone even to the structure of the mould. The happiness in the process of making the Jewellery is been an enjoyment especially after the special person wears the set. Nikita has joined her in process of designing Jewellery but taken it a step further by starting their line of designer jewellery and designer jewelled watches.

D2UK Jewellery

What exactly is D2UK?

Our New Brand of Jewellery and Watches by ‘D2UK’. Our Designer Jewellery is made in high quality 925 Silver with Rhodium or 18K Gold Plating, and is handmade with our Master Jewellery Technicians who have hand picked each semi-precious stone and high quality Cubic Zirconia (CZ) gemstone according to the right cut, clarity and colour to bring out the essence and personality of each Jewellery piece.

To match the Jewellery sets, Our Designer, ‘D2UK’ Watches are made in high-quality Austrian Cubic Zirconia (CZ) gemstones and crystals on a Rhodium or Gold Plated finish. This gives the affect of the Designer Jewellery but disguised by a timepiece.

Where did you get the idea for D2UK?

The idea of ‘D2UK’ Jewellery and Watches has been made to suit the everyday woman, wedding or general traveller because of the high-quality designer finish, and mainly to be presented as a Precious set, making the person feel safe yet glamorous, where ever they go. Precious Designer Jewellery using real gemstones can also be made on request but the idea behind our jewellery and watches is to give the affect of a Precious Jewellery set but yet affordable for the consumer.

Could you walk us through the process of starting up D2UK?

The start up happened working together with our design team d2ukfashion: www.designsdubaukfashion.com. This is our running a design service for clients who want clothing, accessories or footwear designs. We were approached one day by our jeweller, who is now one of our suppliers for a client who required personalised jewellery designs.
As we were designing, because of Ravina’s passion for jewellery and Nikita’s passion for design, we decided to create our own line of Jewellery and Watches using the inspiration from other designers but with our own input.

How has it been like managing the business since for both of you?

The managing has been good as we both enjoy this avenue of business. Even with Nikita being more in the UK working with the designers on the creation side and Ravina in Hong Kong working with the manufacturing side, we still try to maintain a strong communication on the daily running of the business. But as other businesses we have our ups and downs but try to overcome them quickly in order to move forward.

How have you overcome the manufacturing challenge, given that watches are highly technical?

We overcame this challenge as our Watch manufacturer has been in the industry for more than 20 years and so just used our designed jewelled concept to help us create our range.

How was the reception for the products?

We have just launched our Jewellery and Watches online on January 2014 and sent personal invitations for everyone to come to our showroom to see our new range. Our showroom location is:
Designs Dubai UK Fashion Ltd.,Peninsula Centre, 67 Mody Road, 6th Floor, Room 618, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Tel: (+852) 23122100   Mob: (+852) 94631642

We are also participating in the Middle East Jewellery and Watch Trade fair in Sharjah, UAE from April 29th-3rd May 2014, to welcome new clients around the Middle east.

Do you face a lot of competition in this industry? What is your strategy against your competition?

Yes with Jewellery and Watches there is a lot of competition but what we are offering is a personalised service to all clients to create their own bespoke designs with us and when they buy with us we will make any adjustments or changes they require. We also are producing designs which can be seen as real jewellery but yet affordable for the client.

???????????????????????????????????????

What can you tell us about the industry? Have you developed any industry insights that you could share?

Yes, we have seen in this industry with Jewellery and Watches there is such a vast range of different styles and prices according to their weight, design, materials and structure, making it a larger choice for the consumer.

How have you managed to stay relevant in this industry?

We have just started in January 2014 so
hopefully with good marketing and good manufacturers helping us in our production to increase our designer range, we can appeal to Jewellery and Watch collectors to help us move further in this industry.

What does the future hold for your company?

Our future is go further in new and original concepts for our designer range, and to create honest and good relationships with quality service for all our clients who purchase with us now and in the future.

What do you think about startups in Asia?

We feel start-ups in Asia are fantastic as this brings new ideas with enthusiastic entrepreneurs which is good for the economy. The new trends and technology encourages curiosity yet excitement for the future.

What are some personal principles or personal values that guide you and your career?

Our personal principles are mainly honesty and positive thinking. We both believe this with all our clients. The product they will receive will be from our genuine passion for design and jewellery. This is why our slogan for the jewellery is, ‘A Passion behind the Gem’ and for the watches, ‘A Passion behind the Timepiece’. The slogans match our personal principles.

What is your definition of success?

To most the obvious answer to this question is financial success. For us this is also important but more than this, is to be internally happy and confident with the daily running of our business that it shows in the output of our products.

Why did you decide to become an entrepreneur?

We both decided this as we believe practising our inner knowledge to what we are confident in is the drive of life. The opportunity came in front of us to implement our ideas which we took on as entrepreneurs.

What do you think are the most important things entrepreneurs should keep in mind?

They should keep in mind that patience is key. With a new brand or new concept the marketing process can be slow but with the drive to succeed this will help in this stage as an entrepreneur.

In your opinion, what are the keys to entrepreneurial success?

The keys to entrepreneurial success is when your goals for achievement in your business have been accomplished.
