With a Passion for Trail Running, Veronika Founded Asia Trail Girls. Join in For One of Their Female Only Runs, Meet-ups or Workshops!

What’s your story?
A few years ago, I discovered the beauty of trail running and ever since I got really passionate about this sport. Trail Running is amazing not only for your body but also for your mind – it’s a way to disconnect from the world and connect with your inner self. I decided to create Asia Trail Girls to share my passion and to grow women’s participation in the sport of trail running.

What excites you most about your industry?
The rise of the ultra trail running industry in recent years has been incredible. There has been a huge surge in the number of ultra-marathons and ultra-trail running events all over the world. As the trail running community grows so do the opportunities for different types of businesses within the industry.

What’s your connection to Asia?
I studied Mandarin Chinese and Business at The University of Manchester. As part of my studies I had to do a year abroad in China. That’s how I first got to Asia back in 2010. Asia has that special something, there is something exciting about living here. Life never gets boring and even after eight years of living in Asia there is still so much to explore!

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
I have only worked in Shanghai and Hong Kong so far. Everything is much easier in Hong Kong if you are a foreigner. It’s incomparably easier on so many different levels.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
There is no shame in failing, take pride in that you have the guts to try something new. Best advice for all entrepreneurs!

Who inspires you?
I don’t have one specific person. I always get inspired by successful people/entrepreneurs around me. It gives me hope and motivation to see that you can succeed if you really work hard and don’t give up on your dreams.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
I keep learning over and over again that consistency is key. Nothing is more effective than consistency when it comes to making your company, or your performance, stand out. Consistency can really help in every facet of life.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
Nothing. I prefer looking forward into the future rather than wishing I could change my past.

How do you unwind?
Running and any kind of cardio exercise really helps me unwind. There is nothing better than going out for a run after a long stressful day. It instantly makes me feel better mentally and physically.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
I don’t have a favourite one but any beach destination in SEA without crowds is a perfect place to relax.

Everyone in business should read this book:
I am not big on books and usually get inspired by videos and documentaries. I haven’t found a book yet that I would want to recommend to other people in business. I read books to unwind and to relax and that rarely has to do with business.

Shameless plug for your business:
If you want to change your life for the better, get stronger physically and mentally, build confidence and meet like-minded women, join Asia Trail Girls on one of our female only runs, meet-ups or workshops.
