Vlad developed the world’s most advanced hydration tablet that is healthy and tastes good

What’s your story?
I’m a professional distance runner who has started his own hydration company after looking for a product that can help my recovery for my own training and there was nothing on the market. I have spent over 2 years developing the world’s most advanced hydration tablet that contains BCAA’s, Bromelain, Q10 and another 10 vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes.

What excites you most about your industry?
There is a lot of big companies in the sports endurance nutrition market who make very big profits by selling very low-quality products and I’m excited to see how far we can get when we provide a really high-quality product and are more interested in athletes recovering faster and achieving their training goals rather than profit.

What is your connection to Asia?
I have lived in Hong Kong for 5 years and have raced all over Asia for the last 8 years as a distance runner and ultramarathon runner.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Hong Kong, Endurance sports is growing really fast in HK and ultramarathons are becoming the biggest sport in the city. Not many big cities in the world would have the winners of trail races on the front pages of the newspapers on regular basis. It’s also the gateway to the rest of Asia with some of the best airport links in the world.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Learn how to run a profitable company without investors at the start. I started the company with no outside investors and only one product – this is a big learning experience for me and I wanted to make sure I learn how to create a profit on a very small scale before growing the company.

Who inspires you?
Jason Jia, is based in HK and he is just a few years older than me and also moved to HK from Australia. He is already running a big international company which he set up with a few more partners. He has a great balance between work, family and training which I really admire.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
How cheap to produce some of the hydration products I used to consume before starting my own company Bix Hydration.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I would really look more into the logistics of shipping and fulfilment and leave a bigger % for them.

How do you unwind?
Luckily I get to run twice a day every single day so that’s my unwind and self-time.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Anywhere in Thailand, being vegan Thailand is really easy for vegans and the food there is absolutely amazing.

Everyone in business should read this book:
I usually only read sports biographies.

Shameless plug for your business:
Bix hydration was created because I wanted a product that I can use myself and I have 3-4 tablets every single day which is a big part of my recovery routine. I wanted to create a product that doesn’t have any chemical fake taste to it so we created Bix with beetroot & carrot powder so its not only good for you as it has 12 vitamins and minerals but also tastes good and is healthy for you.
