An inspiring beauty with brains, a challenging life and a banding together of women, has led Genecia Alluora on her entrepreneurial journey.

What’s your story?
My story is one that is not unfamiliar to the norm. My family was not financially well-off. At the age of 16, I was supporting my family financially, putting myself and my brother through school, teaching yoga, aerobics and line dancing to make money. I went into the beauty pageant industry. I achieved success in that field but I knew the fame would not keep me financially afloat forever. I went into different businesses, failed. With a failed partnership, I ended up with a six-figure debt. My life turned around with my mentor James Wee coaching me to pursue a business that leverages tech. I became a partner in a cafe retail chain with presence in 3 countries and also birthed Soul Rich Woman – a platform with an online academy, and offline network where women can tap into. This network serves to empower women in health, wealth and happiness.

What excites you most about your industry?
I know what women are capable of. I know how much potential is hidden under all the what-ifs, insecurities and procrastinations that rule their lives. What excites me the most is when a person says “Yes” to thriving towards a better lifestyle and she is actually striving towards that goal and is not letting anything stop her. It’s a beautiful sight to see when someone morphs into the powerhouse she’s meant to be.

What’s your connection to Asia?
Women are powerhouses in Asia. My businesses tap into this vast potential in different parts of Asia like Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Myanmar. We help thousands of women in Asia start their own business, become powerhouse entrepreneurs and achieve the dream life they’re meant to live.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Singapore.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
My mum taught me life skills and life thoughts. She told me the sky’s the limit. Nothing can stop you if you only look beyond your circumstances.
Also, my mentor, James Wee, told me when I was starting “You and you alone can make a difference in your life. You are your own woman.”
Both are incredibly true and have inspired me to form a community where women are empowered by their own capabilities. Thus, the birth of Soul Rich Woman

Who inspires you?
My greatest inspiration in life is my mother. Life was hard for us. She always told me to never give up and to always keep learning. She’s a strong woman and I look up to her strength and perseverance. I also believe every woman is capable of such strength, will and determination to change their lives for the good.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
Women are stepping up to serve in Soul Rich Woman. We’ve recently completed 1000 episodes of live streaming sharing content on business, mindset and marketing! https://www.facebook.com/geneciaalluora/videos/1389852954396984/

I believe that success isn’t about the glorious wins, it’s the behind the scenes work that you do with others that matter. It’s about helping others keep their focus on their goals and stay motivated enough to do their best to realize their potential. Basically, my vision is to lay the groundwork for other women’s success and then to take a step back to let them shine as well. And it’s happening!

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I am who I am today because of the lessons learnt and the journey walked. I am able to coach, empower and encourage women with my experiences inspiring them that even those who are from a hard past are capable of huge success and live a life of security.

How do you unwind?
I enjoy relaxing by brisk walking along the beach. Or just a walk in my neighbourhood.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
I don’t have a particular favorite because my businesses require me to travel to different countries. So, whenever I have business trips overseas, I try my best to squeeze in a day or two of relaxation whichever country I’m in.

Everyone in business should read this book:
Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim. I read it, applied it and would strongly recommend it to anyone who’s starting a business.

Shameless plug for your business:
Do you agree?
Alone we are strong, Together we are unstoppable.
One woman can make a difference, Together we can rock the world.
