After years of being run down and unwell, Jaslin started looking for a solution and finally found a way to recover from natural treatments. She bought into the business, and in 2007 “SimplyNature.Asia” was born.

What’s your story?
I grew up in a family of 8, squeezed into a 40sqm 1 room flat. This no doubt created a strong family bond. I knew since I was young that I needed to start earning for my education. I worked during school holidays starting at the age of 12. From factory worker, selling Christmas cards, CD albums, apparel, to fast food, data entry in bank, events coordinator and managing flea market stores. Though it was tiring, I enjoyed every moment because I made so many friends and learned about people skills and the importance of human relationships.

When I found my dream job in a well-known private bank as an officer, I still continued to study part-time in the evenings to pursue a finance degree. In 1997, the year of the financial crisis, while all my friends who graduated from overseas colleges couldn’t find a job I was blessed with a job and a promotion at the same time.

However, I knew being a private banker or financial planner or even later a real estate agent was not enough. In 2001, the September 11 attacks sent a loud message to me: “Life is short, you don’t know what will happened tomorrow. Do what you desire in your heart, so you will never live with regrets”. That is when I started my entrepreneurial journey. While in pursuit for success, I was living an unhealthy lifestyle. The combination of poor diet, late night meetings and entertainment with clients, lots of flying on business trips, business setbacks and failures, stress, and poor sleep, my health went downhill.

I am not an “IRON Lady” after all, I developed severe skin eczema, migraines and gastric problems. Spent thousands in medication for 5 years but got worse. I never stopped looking for a solution and finally recovered from natural treatment. Immediately, I bought into the business, and in 2007 “SimplyNature.Asia” was born. As of today, we have helped close to 30,000 people get back their health in a simply “Healthy is Sexy” way in Singapore, Philippines, Macau, Australia, Nigeria, and Canada.

What excites you most about your industry?
To see people, like me, who suffered with health issues, regain their health to be vibrant, sharp and magnetic again! When you are severely sick, many times you doubt if you can be healthy again. They become hopeless especially for cancer patients. Their world crumbles the moment the bad news is broken to them. I want to give them hope and courage to regain their health back as long as they are determined to fight it out together. Often, I get encouraged and inspired by their determination and passion to be healthy again.

What’s your connection to Asia?
I am Singaporean living in Philippines as part of my business expansion. At the same time, I manage Singapore and Macau. I call Asia my home because of the need to travel between these countries and also Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and soon China for business and mission works.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
The whole country of Philippines. It is one of the emerging markets and is the sixth richest in Southeast Asia by GDP per capita values, after the regional countries of Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. That was the reason why I expanded our business here 10 years ago. I am excited to bring health and wellness to the 110 million population here.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
“When change is necessary, not to change is destructive.” A.R. Bernard
At a certain point in your life be it in business, or personal life, you know you need to change to change for the betterment of your life, to move from point A to point B. This change though hard will definitely set you to another level in your life. But if you remain unchanged, it will be like self-destruction of your future.

Who inspires you?
My senior banker Enrique Cuan, from whom I learnt to never stop pursuing excellence in all areas of my life. To always be resilient, never complaint and always stay positive and keep moving forward. To never stop
pursuing my dreams and vision in my life and to be all that I can be living a life of purpose and to remember to pay it forward.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
The power of online marketing and sales. I discovered the immediate need to bring my business from offline to ONLINE quickly, so that many more people would learn about, SimplyNature, natural solutions to even cancer, metabolism syndrome and degenerative diseases. A BIG Thank You to Ms Genecia Aullora, Founder of SOUL RICH WOMAN for this enlightenment and mentoring.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
If I could turn back time, I would have started a business and invested in property as young as 14. So that by now, my business and property investments could have expanded beyond Asia and helped even more people achieve their physical and financial health.

How do you unwind?
I cook to unwind. I always look for new recipes for Chinese tonic soup and dishes. Together with my husband we can enjoy and live a healthy lifestyle having as many home cooked meal as possible. During free time, I visit property showrooms as I enjoy seeing the latest trend and interior design of new homes.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Taiwan is my favourite place for relaxation especially during spring season with that wonderful cool weather. I will go there to source for excellent fresh organic mushroom, sweet corn, and sweet pear. I also go there to get my favourite almond milk powder, great for skin and also plum for healthy dessert making. On top of that, I really enjoy the fresh air during my organic farm visit while picking ready harvest strawberries.
