Cindy Leong thinks something is missing in Singapore’s culture – meaningful relationships. Cindy co-founded Relationship Studio and Divine Connect to help people build more meaningful relationships.

What’s your story?
It all started when I was in university. I was casually coaching my classmates on how to be more charismatic, not be a push-over and stop getting bullied by their girlfriends and I received great feedback.
After graduating, I worked in the event industry for 4 years. Then I got married and decided it was time to set up my own business. I had a wedding planner business and founded Relationship Studio. As my client base for Relationship Studio expanded, I made up my mind to do more coaching and events for singles. So in 2015, I co-founded Divine Connect.
I believe in authentic transformation and not just repackaging the outward. I use the Enneagram personality profiling tool to help individuals better themselves, which will in turn help them in their relationships and career. As a Psychology Major with a background in Business, I was also able to help singles, couples and professionals find their standing in life. Here is my website to find out more: www.relationshipstudio.com and www.divineconnect.com.sg

What excites you most about your industry?
I am passionate about helping people build meaningful relationships, be it singles, couples or corporate teams. At the end of the day, having good relationships is the most important thing. Yet, I have seen many people around me lacking this vital skill and subsequently failing in building meaningful relationships. Everything starts from within yourself. I feel it is essential to learn this holistic skill.

What’s your connection to Asia?
Both my businesses are based in Singapore. Occasionally, I hold talks on Royal Caribbean Cruises going around China, Japan and Korea.

Favourite city in Asia for business and why?
Singapore. Singapore has come to a stage where people are affluent and successful in life, but something is missing – meaningful relationships. People in Singapore are more open to coaching as Singapore’s culture is the closest to western culture amongst Asian countries.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Plan every day as if you live forever but live each day as if you only have one.

Who inspires you?
My ex-boss. He is one of the most balanced people I’ve ever met. He has a compelling personality. He is able to balance between warmth and strength and is systematic yet flexible. I find those aspects about him inspiring.

What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
Life is not just about working hard, but working smart. Despite having it all, it is still important to take a rest and practice self love.

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I would have started attaining all the accreditation I needed for my job when I was still in university.

How do you unwind?
Exercise – I do Wing Chun, listen to music, watch musicals, play board games, escape games, spend time with friends and like-minded people and go for holidays.

Favourite Asian destination for relaxation? Why?
Taiwan! It is affordable to travel there and there are a variety of fun activities available. Let’s not forget the numerous good food at one’s fingertips. Also, I am very familiar with the place as I used to study there.
