Sharmin Prince is committed to helping others reach their full potential.

What’s your story?

I am Sharmin Prince, a woman who has persevered through many hardships, yet still has an optimistic view of the future. I am not afraid to take risks or fail, and I am deeply passionate about my mission: the Founder and Executive Director of Eagles Empowered to Soar (EEtS), a New York-based registered non-profit. Our mission is to provide a safe and positive environment where marginalized people can access the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential and soar. Together, we are creating a world where dreams are possible.

What excites you most about your industry?

The non-profit industry offers a unique opportunity to empower and enlighten those who are behind socially or psychologically. I am particularly excited by the potential to provide resources and knowledge to those in need and to give them a chance to realize their full potential. Through this work, I am able to bring light to people who may not have previously had access to resources, and give them the opportunity to create a better life for themselves.

What drives you in business to push beyond what other people consider normal?

The people I serve.

What have been the most useful skills you have learnt and applied in your journey?

The most valuable skills I have learned in the nonprofit sector and applied to my journey have been those of collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. Working in the nonprofit sector has taught me the importance of working together with diverse teams and stakeholders, while also being able to communicate effectively and work through challenging solutions. These skills have been immensely helpful in navigating my journey and finding success.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?

People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care about them. Show them that you are truly invested in their success and well-being and that you are willing to go the extra mile to ensure their success. Only then will they truly appreciate all the knowledge and expertise you have to offer.

Who inspires you?

I am my own inspiration.

What have you learnt recently that blew you away?

I recently learned about Transhumanism, H+ and Genetic Engineering, and it completely blew me away! Transhumanism is an idea that humans can evolve beyond their current physical and mental limitations by utilizing technology and science. H+ is a proposed system of human enhancement through genetic engineering, nanotechnology, and cybernetics, while Genetic Engineering is the science of manipulating the genetic code of living organisms, allowing us to control their development, behavior, and characteristics. These technologies have the potential to drastically change the way we live, and I’m excited to learn more about them!

If you had your time again, what would you do differently?

If given the chance, I would be an outstanding scientist. I have a passion for exploring and discovering, and I’m eager to uncover the mysteries of the universe. Through my hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm, I’m confident I could make great contributions to the scientific community.

How do you unwind?

Unwinding can be an important part of our lives, and creativity is a great way to do it. I find solace and peace in being creative, whether that means painting, drawing, writing, crafting, or anything else that appeals to me. Taking time to be creative allows me to relax and reconnect with myself, leaving me feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever comes next.

What is a major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment that you’ve experienced in relation to your business?

A major mindset change, belief shift or ‘ah ha’ moment I have experienced in relation to the non-profit sector is understanding how powerful and impactful small donations can be. Although large donations can often make the most visible impact, I’ve come to realize that small donations can achieve a meaningful collective impact when they come together. I’ve also come to appreciate the importance of volunteering and engaging with the non-profit sector as a whole, as this allows individuals to better understand the cause and be more involved in the process.
